Catholic University already vibrates its loaded second semester. The crusaders have already taken the first step in the Chile Cup and are also thinking about what will be the second round of the National Championship, where they must rebound if they want to dream of five-time championship, and the round of 16 of the South American Cup.

To arm themselves, the Crusaders have already secured Daniel González. Now, the cast of the foothills announced an agreement for the arrival of their second reinforcement in this transfer window and it is a name longed for by all the fans of the Strip: Mauricio Isla, trained at UC, but who did not make his debut in Chilean soccer.

“Mauricio Isla reached an agreement with the Catholic University and would become a new reinforcement for the Crusaders until December 2024. The player, who would arrive from Flamengo in Brazil, also has a long career with steps in Italy, England, France and Turkey “, they wrote from the club.

From the club they confirmed that the player, who will be linked to the UC until he is 36 years old, “the rigorous exams will be carried out in the next few hours, after which his link with the Catholic University will be sealed.”

Isla’s name as reinforcement came as a complete surprise to Chile. The former Flamengo player had a contract until the end of the year with Mengao, but finally an agreement was reached for his departure. Isla was not part of the summons for the last match played by the cast in Brazil and is waiting for his medical exams to wear the Precordillera jersey.

Thus, the Chilean will play for the first time with a national shirt. Isla studied at Universidad Católica, but was removed from the team before his debut and in 2007 he left for Udinese. From there he wore the shirts of Juventus, Queens Park Rangers, Olympique de Marseille, Cagliari, Fenerbahce and Flamengo.

Isla marks the first return to Chile of a dorado from the national team. El Huaso was part of the Red team that won the Copa América twice and despite the fact that it was thought that he would reach Universidad de Chile, a club of which he is a fan, in his first professional game with a Chilean cast he will wear the colors of the Strip.
