A friendly match between Italian football club Juventus and Spanish club Atlético, scheduled for August 7, has been canceled due to security concerns in Israel. About it informs Israeli TV channel Sport5.
The meeting was to take place at the Bloomfield Stadium in Tel Aviv. August 5 Israeli army launched a military operation “Dawn” against the terrorist group “Islamic Jihad” banned in Russia in the Gaza Strip, as a result of which a state of emergency was introduced in the Israeli rear.
The Spanish club has already confirmed that the team will not fly to Israel.
In this case, the opponents will not transfer the meeting to another field. Instead, they will play other teams.
The last time Juventus and Atlético met in November 2019 in the group stage of the Champions League. Then the Turin team won with a score of 1:0.
The championships of Italy and Spain will start in a week. Juventus in the first round on August 13 will play at home with Sassuolo, and Atlético on the same day will meet away with Getafe.
