Knife attack in a hospital in Anderlecht: the individual, who had entered shouting "Allahu Akbar" has been arrested

The individual reportedly said he was going to die but would come back to “kill everyone”. All hospitals in the Brussels region would then have been warned of a potential attack by this individual, who was arrested in Saint-Josse-ten-Noorde shortly before 9 p.m. this Friday according to the Brussels-Midi police zone. He is currently being interviewed by investigators and will then be referred to the Brussels public prosecutor’s office.

“We have received information on the actions of this suspect and we are doing everything possible to find him. The Brussels public prosecutor’s office has been notified. In addition, all Brussels hospitals have been contacted and warned. We are following the situation closely,” said Sarah Frederickx, spokeswoman for the Brussels-Midi police zone.

A man, dressed in gray jeans and a black sweater, presented himself on Friday morning at the Saint-Anne / Saint-RĂ©mi hospital in Anderlecht. He was aggressive and made threats. The individual, who was armed with a knife, reportedly declared that he was going to die but that he would come back to “kill everyone”, before leaving. He is currently wanted.
