Lierse closed its annual fan day on Saturday with a narrow practice win in its dress rehearsal against Patro Eisden. The Pallieters delivered a mediocre performance, but after goals from Thibaut Van Acker, Leonardo Rocha and Jarno Libert still came out on top. Lierse open the competition at Jong Genk on Sunday.

In addition to the long-term injured Jens Teunckens, Jordy Gillekens and Joeri Poelmans were also sidelined with minor injuries. Daan Vekemans belonged to the core of the Pallieters for the dress rehearsal for the first time this season. Asset Serge Tabekou is still struggling with a physical deficit and also started on the bench, although both Vekemans and Tabekou came in after the break.

At the Lisp, it was especially important to look forward to the performance of 21-year-old Maxime Delanghe, the hastily overtaken goalkeeper for the unfortunate Jens Teunckens. Delanghe only had some routine work to do in the first 45 minutes, although it was quite busy for his large rectangle. Because Lierse had a hard time against a stiff Patro Eisden, who liked the Pallieters great scoring opportunities. Early in the match, Walbrecq did aim for Belin and there was also a faint header from De Schryver, but it was not possible to really alarm the visitors in that first period. And so the 0-0 halfway through made sense.

The goals came soon after the break, when Lierse immediately scored a penalty after a visiting hand play on the goal line. Van Acker converted the penalty flawlessly. But with his ten, Patro Eisden came alongside almost immediately, when Ferber took goalkeeper Delanghe against his feet. In numerical majority, the Lierenaars still pulled the sheet to themselves. Substitute Vekemans reached Rocha and he easily scored. On the advice of Walbrecq, Libert added on afterwards, before Bamona recorded the 3-2 final figures from visible offside.

Lierse can therefore enter the competition with confidence next weekend on the field of Jong Genk. The Pallieters will then probably have Jordy Gillekens and Joeri Poelmans at their disposal again in the back.

LIERSE: Delanghe, De Schrjver, De Bie (65′ Libert), Pupe, Schouterden (71′ Laes), Brebels, Van Acker, Walbrecq (84′ Limbombe), De Schryver (71′ Vekemans), Tarfi (71′ Tabekou) , Rocha.
