Figure skaters Anna Shcherbakova and Kamila Valieva have never been tested by the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA) between January and May 2022, informs “Match TV”, referring to the documents of the agency at his disposal.
The documents contain information about doping checks of Russian athletes. In total RUSADA for the specified period checked 2851 athletes from 103 sports and disciplines. In total, the agency performed 3880 checks.
Among the skaters, 21 athletes were tested for doping. In total, RUSADA carried out 33 doping control procedures for skaters. The 2022 Olympic champions Shcherbakova and Valieva have never been tested during this time, while the silver medalist of the Beijing Games Alexandra Trusova passed two doping tests.
Valieva at the end of December 2021 passed a positive doping test for trimetazidine. The test results became known after the end of the team figure skating competition at the Beijing Olympics, in which the Russian team with Valieva won.
Trimetazidine is used to treat cardiac problems, but has been banned in athletes since 2015. Valieva explained that the illegal drug entered her body by the fact that her grandfather took it for the heart, and as a result, domestic “pollution” occurred.
