Goalkeeper Matz Sels has extended his contract with the French first division team Strasbourg for two seasons. The thirty-year-old Red Devil now has an agreement until mid-2026, the club announced on Thursday.
Sels made the switch from Newcastle United four years ago, where he had not been able to win a starting spot. That club had already loaned the former Gentenaar to RSC Anderlecht for a season, in order to regain rhythm and confidence.

In the Ligue 1 it worked out for Sels. Last season he was even elected Goalkeeper of the Year by the association for goalkeeper coaches. He celebrated his debut with the Red Devils, where he is basically the fourth goalkeeper, in June last year in the friendly against Greece. In March this year, another cap was added against Burkina Faso.
