The first racket of the world, Russian Daniil Medvedev, reached the semifinals of the tournament in Halle, Germany, with a prize fund of €2.1 million. In the quarterfinals, he beat Spaniard Roberto Bautista-Aguta with a score of 6:2, 6:4.
Athletes spent 1 hour and 27 minutes on the court. Medvedev made eight aces, made four double faults and converted three break points. The Spanish tennis player never filed right through, made two double faults and did not use a single break point.
This was the fourth meeting between Medvedev and Bautista-Aguta, and the first to end in victory for the Russian.
For reaching the final, Medvedev will play with Oscar Otte from Germany, who previously knocked out another Russian Karen Khachanov from the tournament.
