Meeting de Kessel-Lo: Cynthia Bolingo breaks her Belgian record in the 300m and establishes the second world performance of the year

Cynthia Bolingo is gaining momentum as the European Championships in Munich approach, for which the Brussels native was selected in the 400m and 4x400m. The 29-year-old sprinter broke her Belgian 300m record (36.54, September 6, 2020, in Heusden), this Saturday, at the Flanders Cup meeting in Kessel-Lo, in Leuven. Cynthia clocked 36.47, seven hundredths better than her previous national record. A time which also corresponds to the second world performance of the year, 13 hundredths from the time of 36.34 achieved by the Polish Anna Kielbasinska on May 27 in Poznan.

Cynthia Bolingo then took the start of the 200m, scheduled 50 minutes later, and took 3rd place there in 23.24, the sixth fastest time of her career, 45 hundredths of her record (22.79, June 19, 2021, in Nivelles) .

At the same meeting, Hanne Claes came within three hundredths of her personal best in the 400m hurdles (55.20), setting an excellent time of 55.23, an improvement of one tenth on her best time of the year. The Louvanist, also trained by Carole Bam, also arrives in great shape before Munich where she will also combine the individual and the 4x400m relay.

Finally, Jonathan BorlĂ©e, deprived of world championships through injury, signed his return to competition this Saturday in the 400m. The Belgian record holder won in 46.33, ahead of Germany’s Torben Junker and Jonathan Sacoor, both credited with a time of 46.72.
