Forbes named Messi the highest paid athlete in the world
According to Forbes, more than half of the money Messi earned in a year was a salary at PSG. Irish UFC fighter Conor McGregor did not enter the top 10 last year

Argentina and Paris Saint-Germain striker Lionel Messi has topped the list of the highest paid athletes in the world according to Forbes.
Last summer, Messi moved to PSG from the Spanish “Barcelona”, of which he is a pupil. The Catalan club was unable to pull Messi’s salary due to the financial crisis.
Between May 1, 2021 and May 1, 2022, the football player earned $130 million, of which $75 million was received as salary and bonuses, and $55 million came from sponsorship and advertising contracts.
The second place in the ranking was taken by the American basketball player of the Los Angeles Lakers LeBron James ($121.2 million), the third place was closed by the Portuguese football player of the English Manchester United Cristiano Ronaldo ($115 million).

The top ten also includes PSG Brazilian footballer Neymar ($95 million), American basketball players Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors ($92.8 million) and Kevin Durant of the Brooklyn Nets ($92.1 million), Swiss tennis player Roger Federer ($90 .7 million), Mexican boxer Saul Alvarez ($90 million), American football player Tom Brady ($83.9 million) and Greek basketball player Milwaukee Bucks Giannis Antetokounmpo ($80.9 million).
Irish UFC fighter Conor McGregor, the leader of the Forbes rating last year, did not enter the top 10. In total, athletes from the top ten Forbes earned $992 million in a year.
