World No. 3 Rafael Nadal informed on Twitter that he will miss the Masters tournament in Montreal due to health reasons.
Nadal withdrew from the Wimbledon semi-final in early July due to a torn abdominal muscle.
The tennis player said that after returning to training, everything was fine at first, but on August 4 he felt discomfort that did not go away.
“I have no other choice but to be sensible and think about my health. We decided not to go to Montreal and continue training without forcing,” wrote Nadal.
The tournament in Montreal with a prize fund of almost $6 million will be held from August 7 to 14. In 2021, the tournament was won by Russian Daniil Medvedev.
Djokovic will play in the same team with Federer and Nadal
Also August 5 A.P. reportedthat the “Masters” in Montreal will miss Serb Novak Djokovic, who ranks sixth in the ATP rankings.
The Wimbledon champion cannot enter Canada due to a refusal to vaccinate against the coronavirus. For the same reason, the Serb, most likely, will not perform at the US Open, which starts at the end of August.
