Nature exposes itself on the soil of Gerpin

In order to put nature in the spotlight, the Gerpinnes cultural center is offering an exhibition on 2, 3 and 4 December. The theme will of course be nature but also the birds of prey living in our region.

The exhibition will open with a lecture on “Les Rapaces de chez nous” given by Paul Michaux on Friday 2 December at 7 p.m. During this lecture, this naturalist, a certified ringer from the Museum of Natural Sciences in Brussels, will explain the differences between nocturnal and diurnal raptors and their biology.

A photo exhibition will also be available. Visitors will be able to discover the work of two young amateur photographers.

Xavier Derêve, convinced ecologist, lifelong nature lover and technophile, combines these different passions through photography and in particular, macro photography, anxious to give the right determination to his subjects. With his photos, he offers to discover nature from another perspective.

Jonathan Parisi has a certain passion for photography, it will be necessary to wait until 2008 for him to specialize in animal photography. Case in hand, he crisscrosses the nature reserves of the flat country and travels the countryside to immortalize the best wild moments. He will show some of his most beautiful shots during this weekend.

The exhibition will remain accessible during the weekend from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. The photographers will be present on Sunday at 3 p.m. to answer questions and tell the stories of their images during a guided tour.
