World Cup 2022: Who buys the ticket for Qatar? – New Zealand is hoping for the next hype

New Zealand’s national team is hoping for the next football hype. In 2010 she triggered exactly this with her participation in the World Cup. “It inspired young Kiwis to play this sport and that’s what we want to do again,” said international Logan Rogerson in a post on FIFA’s website.

The 24-year-old, who once played for FC Carl Zeiss Jena, is under contract with FC Haka in Finland. He’s hoping for a fresh boost of talented young players through another qualification. “The qualification would strengthen football at home massively,” emphasized Rogerson. Rugby and cricket are still most popular with New Zealanders. If the third World Cup participation succeeds 40 years after the premiere in Spain, football should continue to catch up.

World Cup qualification for New Zealand also financial – Rogerson predicts “hot dance” against Costa Rica

The association also rehabilitated itself financially when it reached the finals in 2010. Just a few years earlier, it had been dependent on government help, wrote the New Zealand portal In 2021, the association had a financial reserve of almost seven million euros. “But we’re not looking at the match now so that we can pay our bills tomorrow,” quoted the portal as saying, association boss Andrew Pragnell.

Logan Rogerson is convinced of the qualities of the team. “We’re going to deliver a hot dance to Costa Rica,” said the 24-year-old. “We’ve had ample time to find our playstyle and identity and that should all be perfect by Tuesday. There is plenty of talent in our squad. And while New Zealand used to not have many players active in Europe, almost the entire squad now plays at a high professional level.”
