Except for a few details, the deal had already been completed for a few days, but now it is also official: Nicolas Rommens (27) leaves RWDM and moves to Zulte Waregem. RWDM reports this on its channels. The playmaker sees a strong season in 1B being crowned and is the first (official) reinforcement of Essevee.

Rommens was one of the absolute strongholds at RWDM in 1B last season. With four goals and eleven assists – making him assistant king in 1B – he played a large part in the strong season of the Brussels team, which also included the promotion final. He was also captain and took care of the standing phases.
It is therefore not surprising that Essevee coach Mbaye Leye is delighted with this reinforcement. “He is a real leader who can help to provide structure and that’s what we were looking for. He is a top professional, mentally he is good and he is also someone who can identify with the identity of the club. We are the farmers, hard workers. And that suits him.” He is assisted in this by his assistant Patrick Asselman. “Nicolas is someone who knows the ropes and brings experience, maturity and leadership to this group.”
A different sound can be heard with RWDM. They would have loved to keep their captain there, but in the end they are fishing behind the net. “Despite the club’s efforts to retain its captain, the player has expressed his desire to play at a higher level. We wish him every success for the rest of his career,” it said in a statement.
At Essevee there is no official communication about the transfer and the duration of the contract for the time being, but that will normally follow shortly.
