Beerschot striker Nökkvi Thórisson (23) became the father of a son on Monday. This is the first child for him and his wife María Lillý Ragnarsdóttir. And since the sprout was born in the Koekenstad, he can officially call himself an Antwerp resident.
At the beginning of this month, Thórisson spoke in an interview with your newspaper about imminent fatherhood. “We are really looking forward to it,” he said at the time. “My wife has since flown to Belgium and will from now on live permanently in Antwerp with our son. We love this city very much. We feel really comfortable here.”
As per Icelandic tradition, the couple’s son will be given the surname ‘Nökkvason’ – literally: ‘son of Nökkvi’. The first name of the couple has not yet been announced.
Perhaps the happy news will give the attacker wings next weekend. On Saturday, Beerschot will compete against Anderlecht’s promises.
