For us, the story takes place 10 years after Revenge of the Sith. So we are right between the prequels and the original trilogy”, pointed out the director of “”, Deborah Chow, to .

He also stated the reasons:And really, it’s a character story about Obi-Wan. And, in large part, the story that we’ve been trying to tell is his journey of what it was like from the end of Revenge of the Sith, with all the pain and tragedy that happened in that ending, to becoming the calm and peaceful that entered A New Hope. So we’re trying to tell that transitional moment of how he got from here to here.”.

Regarding his relationship with Anakin Skywalker, Chow explained: “Right now, for both (Obi-Wan) and the galaxy, it’s a pretty dark period. And that actually made it really interesting to tell a story in this period. It’s a time when the Empire is rising, it’s post Order 66″.

So most of the Jedi have been killed. Many of them are being hunted by the Inquisitors. So it’s a very dark time to be a Jedi and most of them are in hiding or dead. So for him, at this point, 10 years later, we’re dealing with Post-Anakin Order 66, who he thinks he killed, and then all of his friends, everyone. Like he’s gone or he’s hiding. So it’s a difficult period for Obi-Wan”, he added.
