The New York Rangers won in Game 6 of the Stanley Cup first round series against the Pittsburgh Penguins. The meeting, held in Pittsburgh, ended with a score of 5:3.

As part of the guests scored Mika Zibanejad (26th and 27th minutes), Chris Kreider (34th and 59th) and Andrew Kopp (60th, into an empty net). The Penguins scored goals with Jeff Carter (15th), Brian Rust (16th) and Evgeni Malkin (37th).

The Rangers goal was defended by Russian goalkeeper Igor Shesterkin, who saved 31 out of 34 opponents’ shots. In the episode with the third goal of his team, Shesterkin gave an assist.

New York was losing in the series 1:3, but was able to turn the tide of the confrontation and bring it to the seventh match, which will be held in New York on May 16.

According to the results of the NHL regular season, Shesterkin was nominated for two prestigious awards – the Hart Memorial Trophy and the Vezina Trophy. The first award is given to the player who has made the greatest contribution to the success of his team, and the second award is given to the best goaltender of the NHL season.
