Red Bull driver Sergio Perez set the best time in final practice at the Grand Prix in Miami.
Miami – The Mexican Formula 1 driver relegated world championship leader Charles Leclerc to second place in the Ferrari in the final practice laps before qualifying. World champion Max Verstappen came third in the second Red Bull. The German duo showed improvement. Sebastian Vettel finished fifth in the Aston Martin, with Haas driver Mick Schumacher coming sixth just behind.
Due to an accident by Esteban Ocon, the practice session was again interrupted for several minutes. The Frenchman crashed his Alpine into the barriers. Already on Friday there were three red flags in training. The drivers clearly found it difficult to get used to the new course around the Hard Rock Stadium. Verstappen was just able to avoid a crash shortly before the end after a driving error.
Before the fifth round of the season on Sunday (9.30 p.m. / Sky), Leclerc leads the overall standings by 27 points over Verstappen. Both have won two races each this year. dpa
