There is nothing left to gain for the Mechelen A-team this season, it was different for the promises. On Sunday, the U21 of KV Mechelen played a jump-off match against the U21 of Lierse K. with a place in second National as a bet. Malinwa won convincingly: 4-0.

As the highest ranked team, KV Mechelen got the home advantage. For safety reasons, the match took place behind closed doors at the Mechelen youth academy. In the first half, a header by Joseph Amuzu made it 1-0. After the break Frederic Soelle Soelle made it 2-0. Milan Robberechts (3-0) and Ngal’Ayel Mukau (4-0, penalty kick) also appeared on the scoreboard.

Thanks to the derby victory, the Mechelen promises will play in the second amateur series of Belgian football next season. It will almost certainly hit Racing Mechelen, the Beerschot U21, Berchem Sport and City Pirates. The amateur series are classified on the basis of region. Normally the promises of Antwerp also come out in that series, but they still have a chance of participating in the first National, because the promises of Cercle Brugge may want to give up their place.

The U21 of Lierse K. can once again prepare for the U23 competition next season. A pity for the Pallieters, because there was a chance that they could face Lyra-Lierse in the second National. The neighbors from Lier still play the final round for promotion to the first National.
