Footballers of the Qatar national team lost to the team of Ecuador in the opening match of the home world championship.

The meeting in El-Khaur ended with the score 0:2.

Both goals for the Ecuadorians were scored by captain Enner Valencia – in the 16th minute he converted the penalty he had earned, and in the 31st he doubled the advantage of his team.

Valencia also scored in the third minute of the meeting, but the goal was canceled due to offside after video review.
