The camero arrived last summer in the French capital from Real Madrid. He finished the 2020-21 season injured and had to miss Euro 2020, arriving in pre-season still sore. Those pains meant that 21-22 was the season in which I played the least as a professional (12 games, all of them in Ligue 1) since joining Sevilla’s first team in 2004. His team won Ligue 1, but fell to Real Madrid in the Champions League round of 16.

Blind faith in Galtier

This has been Christophe Galtier’s first pre-season as a PSG manager. Ramos still does not want to venture how the season will go, because considers that there is still time for all the pieces to fit: “At the moment we are fine, but we need to ride to gain confidence and adapt to the new system”.

Laughing, the camero acknowledges that he understands his coach’s French better when he speaks slowly: “I still have a little problem with the language, but I think we understand the system quite well because he is a great coach, he is a wise man and we have to transfer his idea to the field”.

Defense of three to balance the team

The system used by Galtier, according to Ramos, can come in handy for PSG to build a solid block and let it come out on the counterattack: “It gives us balance and transmits security to the attacking players. We close the wings before and they can go down more calmly. Little by little, we are getting to know the weaknesses and abilities of each one of us”.
