A lot has changed in Guarani since the last derby from Campinas. In the meantime, Bugre almost eliminated Corinthians in the quarterfinals of Paulistão, while seeing Ponte Preta relegated to Série A2. On the other hand, he ended up falling in the second phase of the Copa do Brasil and starting the Brazilian Series B below expectations, which cost Daniel Paulista, who left the team last Wednesday (4). In the midst of it all, Giovanni Augusto designed the next classic.

In a press conference this Friday (6), the midfielder assured that he is fit after being away for two games in Serie B, one for suspension and the other for muscle wastage, exciting the Guarani fans: “Unfortunately, I was out of two games. Happy to be back, 100% recovered, ready to help Guarani”, highlighted Giovanni Augusto, who was one of the characters in the last derby, in Bugre’s 3-0 victory, in the Golden Earring, for the State Championship, marking one of the goals of the classic in penalty kick.

However, Giovanni Augusto highlighted that the moment of the two teams is very different in relation to the last meeting, turning on the alert in Bugre before the match: “One of the great classics of Brazilian football, moves everyone. Everyone wants to be a protagonist. But now it’s different from what it was at Paulista. Their team is different, they are in a different moment. We will have to dedicate ourselves a lot throughout the match”, concluded the midfielder.

While the board is looking for a new coach in the market, Guarani will have Ben-Hur Moreira on the sidelines on an interim basis, including in the Campinas derby, which takes place this Sunday (8), at 4 pm, at Brinco de Ouro, for the 6th round of the second. While Bugre is in the relegation zone of the championship, occupying the 17th position with five points, Ponte Preta is in the 7th place of the table with seven points.
