In the first half of the Russian Premier League (RPL) season, fan cards (Fan ID) will be required to attend matches at five arenas. About it reported league press office.

“It is planned that from the beginning of the season, the fan card will be required to attend RPL matches at five arenas,” the message says.

We are talking about the Yekaterinburg Arena, Nizhny Novgorod, Rostov Arena, Solidarity Samara Arena and Fisht stadiums, where Ural, Pari Nizhny Novgorod, Rostov, Krylya Sovetov and Sochi, respectively. All of these stadiums hosted the 2018 World Cup matches where the Fan ID system was used.

The RPL noted that the remaining stadiums will be connected to the project in the second part of the season.

In mid-May, the Deputy Secretary General of the Russian Football Union (RFU), Maxim Mitrofanov, said that at the start of the next season, Fan ID would work at six stadiums, but did not specify which ones. The new RPL season starts on July 15 (the championship calendar can be viewed here).

The law on the introduction of Fan ID was adopted and approved in December 2021. It entered into force on June 1. A FAN ID will be required to attend certain competitions, a list of which will be further determined by the government. A Fan ID may be denied if a fan or tournament participant has previously violated public order at a sporting event, including outside of Russia, or if there is information “about the intention to commit the relevant unlawful acts.” An application for a Fan ID can be submitted through the Gosuslugi portal.
