Russian tennis player Daria Kasatkina failed to reach the final of the WTA 1000 tournament in Rome. She lost to Ons Jaber from Tunisia – 4:6, 6:1, 5:7.
The meeting lasted 1 hour 55 minutes. The Russian could not complete a single ace, made six double faults and converted six out of nine break points. Jabeur filed for relegation six times, made two double faults and converted six break points out of 15.
In the final, the seventh racket of the world will meet with the first number of the rating of the Polish Iga Swiatek, who defeated Arina Sabalenko from Belarus in the other semi-final.
Russian tennis players reached the final of the tournament in Rome in doubles
Kasatkina, who ranks 23rd in the WTA rankings, reached the semifinals, beating Tamara Zidansek from Slovenia (6:4, 6:3), Canadian Leila Fernandez (4:6, 6:3, 7:6), Spaniard Paula Bados (6:4, 6:4) and Swiss Gil Belen Teichman (6:4, 3:2 refusal to continue the match).
The final of the tournament in Rome will be held on May 15. Its prize pool is over $2.5 million. The current winner is Swiatek. Of the Russians, the tournament was won by Maria Sharapova (three times) and Dinara Safina.
