Fighter Fedor Emelianenko rightfully took over as president of the Union of Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) of Russia, former Bellator middleweight champion Alexander Shlemenko told RBC Sport.

“The main thing is that he continues to fulfill his duties on his own. A worthy candidate for the presidency, a good appointment. The main thing for him is to work for the common good and bring money to the MMA union, that is, to fully fulfill his duties. But he had dealt with them before. I congratulate him,” Shlemenko said.

Emelianenko was elected head of the MMA union on June 14. Another candidate for this post was Radmir Gabdullin, who has headed the organization since 2018. Andrey Terentyev, who had previously withdrawn his candidacy in favor of Emelianenko, was also supposed to participate in the elections.

Emelianenko is 45 years old, he headed the MMA Union of Russia from 2012 to 2018, he is also the honorary president of the organization.
