Next Monday, VfB Stuttgart will kick off the new season in the Bundesliga. We summarize everything you need to know.

Five weeks have passed since the celebrated rescue of VfB Stuttgart on the final day of last season. Now the vacation of the VfB players is coming to an end. Coach Pellegrino Matarazzo will ask his protégés for performance diagnostics next weekend. There it is examined whether the men’s professionals adhered to conditional requirements during their vacation.

The team presents the new home jersey

Next Monday the ball game will start again. With the first session on the pitch, the official starting shot for preparation for the 2022/2023 season is given. At 3 p.m. the team trains in the VfB Club Center and presents their new home jersey. 1000 spectators are allowed, admission is free. The first session will also be broadcast on VfB’s YouTube channel.

Sasa Kalajdzic, Hiroki Ito, Wataru Endo, Dinos Mavropanos, Borna Sosa and Darko Churlinov, who was last loaned to Schalke 04, will be absent from the start of training. Most recently they were still on the road for their national teams and will not start training until July 4th. Antonis Aidonis (Dynamo Dresden), Maxime Awoudja (WSG Tirol), Philipp Klement (SC Paderborn) and Alou Kuol (SV Sandhausen), who were loaned out last season, will train on Monday. The provisional training squad is completed by homegrown players Thomas Kastanaras (U19) and Laurin Ulrich (U17).

Two new faces in the coaching team

The coaching staff also has two new faces ready. Nate Weiss, who was previously active in the VfB junior division, has been promoted to the new technical trainer with the pros. Jan Schimpchen (previously Benfica Lisbon) strengthens the analyst team.
