The Netherlands team defeated the team of Senegal (the current winner of the Africa Cup of Nations) in the group stage match of the World Cup in Qatar.

The Group A meeting at the El Tumama Stadium in Doha ended with a score of 2:0. In the 84th minute, Cody Gakpo headed the ball after Frenkie de Jong’s pass, and in the 9th minute of stoppage time, Davy Klassen played a good rebound.

Senegalese defender Cheiko Kouyate landed badly in the second half after an aerial combat and left the field on a stretcher. Also injured in a collision with an opponent was another defender of the African team, Abdou Diallo.

For the first time in history, the Dutch national team has not conceded a single goal in four World Cup matches in a row and became the first team with such a series since 2010, when the Spaniards managed to do this.

Klassen scored the latest Dutch goal in a World Cup and the second-latest goal in tournament history after Iranian Mehdi Taremi’s penalty against England earlier on 21 November.
