The Qatar 2022 World Cup is just around the corner, with its long-awaited inauguration at the Al Khor Stadium this Sunday, November 20 from 1:00 p.m. (Chilean time) with the duel between the host team and Ecuador.

If there is something that one usually sees in this kind of tournament, it is the sale of beers inside the stadiumsespecially considering that millions of dollars are paid to FIFA to have exclusivity for the marketing rights of this drink.

And in Qatar, home of the first World Cup held in the Middle East in history, things will change drastically. FIFA, through an official statement, confirmed that The sale of alcoholic beverages inside the stadiums will be prohibited. and in its vicinity.

“Following discussions between the authorities of the host country and FIFA, the decision was made to concentrate the sale of alcoholic beverages at the FIFA Fan Festival, other fan destinations and licensed venues, removing beer outlets from stadium perimeters of the FIFA World Cup in Qatar,” the statement said.

In this sense, from the world soccer governing body they indicated that the non-alcoholic beer option will be available within the venues: “There is no impact on the sale of Bud Zero, which will remain available in all stadiums of the Qatar 2022 World Cup. The authorities of the host country and FIFA will continue to ensure that the stadiums and surrounding areas provide a pleasant, respectful and enjoyable experience for all fans.”

“The tournament organizers appreciate AB InBev’s understanding and continued support of our joint commitment to serve everyone during the World Cup of FIFA”, they concluded.

The 2022 World Cup will begin this Sunday, November 20, from 1:00 p.m. (Chilean time), when Qatar and Ecuador face each other at the Al Khor Stadium.
