The gas leak was located in Forest: the evacuated residents were able to return to the premises

A gas leak was reported this Saturday, June 11 around 1:30 p.m. on Boulevard Guillaume Van Halen in Forest. The Brussels and Sibelga firefighters were hard at work there for a good part of the afternoon to detect the origin of this leak in a 6-storey house.

It was finally located at the end of the afternoon in a pipe between the 2nd and 3rd floors of the house. The meter connected to this pipe was closed and sealed by Sibelga.

“The building has been ventilated to avoid any pockets of residual gas,” said Walter Derieuw, spokesperson for the Brussels Fire Brigade.

In the meantime, the police have been deployed in the building to ventilate the apartments whose occupants or owner could not be contacted.

The twenty inhabitants evacuated in a STIB bus were able to return to the premises. There are no injuries. Car traffic interrupted has been restored.
