The sports director of Spartak Luca Cattani said that in the situation with the departure of the former head coach Paolo Vanoli from the team, one should not talk about betrayal, the Italian specialist behaved professionally to the end. Cattani’s words leads “RIA News”.
Spartak announced Vanoli’s resignation as head coach on June 9. The contract, calculated until the end of the 2022/23 season, was terminated by mutual agreement of the parties.
“There was a match on Sunday [за Кубок России], the next morning there was no specific conversation, after that I had the first doubts, and after three or four days the situation unfolded like this. Vanoli until the last minute thought exclusively about the team, we talked eight times a day, discussed the team, fees, transfers, ”said Cattani.
He added that there can be no questions about Vanoli’s professionalism. “I don’t think it’s worth talking about betrayal in this case. You are well aware of the situation in other clubs, but Paolo stayed until the end of the season. <...> We shared everything with each other, I know how the situation developed, I don’t want to assess the actions of people, ”said Cattani.
Fedun’s wife expressed gratitude to Vanoli “with tears in her eyes”
Vanoli has been with Spartak since December 2021, under his leadership the club won the Russian Cup and finished tenth in the Russian Premier League.
During the season, RPL clubs lost a number of foreign players and coaches. In particular, the coaches of Krasnodar (Daniel Farke) and Lokomotiv (Markus Gisdol) left their posts. Dynamo coach Sandro Schwartz announced his departure from the club immediately after the defeat in the Russian Cup final and a few days later he headed Hertha Berlin.
