Lawyer Eduardo Carlezzo, who defends Chilean interests in FIFA, explained what was requested by the governing body of soccer for the Byron Castillo Case. The footballer is asked for a lifetime punishment.
This Wednesday the Brazilian lawyer, Eduardo Carlezzowho defends the interests of the Federation of Chile in the FIFA, explained what are the three requests that were made by the Byron Castillo case.
The lawyer not only hopes that the governing body of world football grants him a place in the Qatar World Cup 2022 a Chilibut also severely punish the selection of Ecuador and the footballer in question.
“Our requests go in three lines. First, confirm if there is falsification of documents and article 11. Due to everything that happened, it is already known that he held falsified documents many years ago and that the player never spoke of his royal family” the lawyer began.
And then he detailed the three requests: “We hope that Byron Castillo is expelled from professional football. Next, we ask for the application of article 22 that gives Chile the points from the matches against Ecuador, so that FIFA declares that Chile occupies the fourth position in the Qualifiers. And as a sanctioning measure against the FEF, exclusion from the 2026 World Cup”.
Then, he indicated: “As I am clear, FIFA will act very clearly because FIFA is interested in resolving as quickly as possible, the uncertainty before the World Cup does not help anyone.
“If we take into account that in ten days we will know the position of Ecuador, and FIFA does not need more evidence, or listen to the player or a position of Chile, it would already have the process ready to fail. I understand that in 30 days we can already have a failure of the disciplinary commissionhe explained.
Finally, on the guilt of the Ecuadorian Federation, he stated: “The FEF has responsibility because it knew these facts many years ago and that the player was involved in the forgery scheme. He ran the risk of summoning him and now he must face the consequences.”
In this way, Chile will have to wait for FIFA’s determination in the coming days to find out if it can really take the place of Ecuador in Qatar 2022, although there are also other teams that could claim that position, such as Italy or Peru.
