Inter Club Escaldes de Andorra came from behind to defeat La Fiorita 1-2 and is one step away from the first qualifying round for the group stage of the competition that rewards La Orejona.
This Tuesday, June 21, the UEFA Champions League 2022-23 began, at least in what corresponds to the preliminary round of the highest club tournament on the old continent: and it was a 1-2 victory for Inter Club Escaldes de Andorra as a visit against to La Fiorita de San Marino at the VikinsdVöllur stadium, in Reykjavík.
The San Marino team took the lead with a goal from Danilo Rinaldi (45’+1), but Escaldes turned the duel around with goals from Genís Soldevila in the 54′ and 65′ minutes, making it past Inter Club Escaldes to the final of the preliminary round of the Champions League.
During this same afternoon, from 3:30 p.m. in Chile, FCI Levadia from Estonia will face Víkingur Reykjavík from Iceland for the other spot in the defining match.
The winner of the duel between Inter Club Escaldes and Levadia or Víkingur Reykjavík will qualify for the first qualifying round of the 2022-23 Champions League. It should be remembered that the European tournament includes the next three qualifying phases plus a series of playoffs before the start of the competition itself with groups.
Among the teams awaiting the first qualifying round are Malmö from Sweden, Cluj from Romania, Maribor from Slovenia, Ludogorets Razgrad from Bulgaria and Ferencváros from Hungary among the most traditional European teams.
