The Wallonia-Brussels Federation releases 400,000 euros for a project against violence in sport

Racist remarks, incidents on and off the pitch, attacks on referees… all of which have no place in sport.

In recent months, several not very glorious events have taken place in the world of sport: referees have been attacked among young people, Vincent Kompany and others have been victims of racist insults… We also remember the fights that have broke out at Union St-Gilloise – Beerschot and at Seraing – RWDM, in particular, as regards the most recent events.

However, on the side of the sports federations and the Wallonia-Brussels Federation, many projects have been implemented. Recently, on the initiative of the Minister of Sports Valérie Glatigny, the government of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation adopted a call for projects in the amount of 400,000 euros, within the framework of the entry into force of the decree aimed at sporting ethics (in particular equality between women and men and the fight against mistreatment and harassment), also adopted on the initiative of the Minister. A sum which should make it possible to support the implementation of pilot and/or innovative projects in the fight against violence in the world of sport and intended for recognized sports federations and associations.
