Night of heroism and ranking. After Rafael Cabral shined in the penalty shootout, the cruise stamped the spot in the round of 16 of the Copa do Brasil, by beating Remo, this Thursday (12). Edu, was also the name of the night, as it was his goal that equalized the aggregate score of the first and second matches. In the game in Belém, Raposa had lost 2-1.

Paulo Pezzolano emphasized Team Celeste’s courage to reverse the outcome. The Uruguayan commander assessed that the match at Independência was “a tight game”: “The players showed courage to get the spot. Congratulations to them. How they faced the game. The most important thing is that we were the team that had the volume of play, it’s not easy, even though it’s a Serie C team, Remo had a result in their favor. I liked the game, we made a transition game. Time passed and we were patient, which I liked. The players are understanding what they have to do”, detailed the coach.

After praising the team’s performance, Pezzolano left the celebration aside and already looked at Cruzeiro’s next commitment, against Náutivo, on Sunday (15), for Serie B: “(The classification) will give more confidence. We know we have to forget about this game. Unfortunately for us, it’s thinking about Náutico, being strong as a team, improving what we didn’t do well today. That’s how every game is. We are calm, there is trust,” he declared.

The classification for the next phase of the Copa do Brasil guaranteed R$ 7 million to Cruzeiro. After the victory against Remo, Raposa ended a fast of more than 42 years against the opponent and managed to qualify for the round of 16 of the Copa do Brasil for the first time since relegation.
