More than 1.5 million people watched the matches of the hockey tournament in St. Petersburg on the Internet. The President of the Russian Ice Hockey Federation (FHR) Vladislav Tretiak told the journalists about this.
Tournament Liga Stavok St. Petersburg Cup was held from 5 to 8 May. It was attended by the national and youth teams of Russia, previously suspended from the world championships, as well as the team of Belarus.
“More than 15,000 spectators attended the matches of the Russian national team at the tournament, there was a super sold out at the final – not a single empty seat in the arena. I am very glad that the residents of Tula and St. Petersburg in May were able to watch the national team live, enjoy the intense international games, ”said Tretyak.
According to the head of the FHR, “online” the Russian team had “phenomenal support.” “More than 1.5 million people followed the broadcasts only via the Internet, excluding television. The team feels this attention, these emotions of compatriots, ”said the functionary.
The winner of the tournament was the Russian team, which in the final beat the team of Belarus with a score of 3:2. Before the competition in St. Petersburg, the Russians and Belarusians played two friendly matches in Tula. The hosts won – 5:2 and 3:2 in overtime.
