One of the most important benefits for older adults is the Universal Guaranteed Pension, that came to replace the Solidarity Pillar, Therefore, the people who will be able to access this benefit automatically are the beneficiaries of the Basic Solidarity Old-Age Pension or the Old-Age Solidarity Pension Contribution.
Nevertheless, Older people who do not receive the aforementioned benefits can also access the benefit by meeting the following requirements:
– Be 65 years or older
– Not being part of a family group belonging to the richest 10% of the population.
– Proof of residence in Chile
– Have a base pension less than the super pension set at 1 million pesos.
The amount corresponding to the Universal Guaranteed Pension is $185,000 which will be readjusted in July 2022 and every February of each year from 2023.

When do they pay the PGU and how do I know if I will receive the payment?
Every first business day of the month, the beneficiaries will receive their automatic payment, through the IPS, AFP or insurance company. It is worth mentioning that since June, the IPS will be the only entity paying the PGU.
And as of May, pensioners who receive a Guaranteed Final Pension greater than $185,000 (that is, IPS pensioners and AFP pensioners after January 1, 2020, who necessarily accessed the Solidarity Pillar with an APSV, to the extent that the amount is greater than the PGU).
