No, one of VfB Stuttgart’s favorite opponents was 1. FC Köln in the recent past. Especially in the home arena, the record of the white-red against the first German champion looks poor: In the past 25 years there have been seven defeats in the Bundesliga at home, five draws – and only one win. But it wasn’t that long ago.

In October 2017, on Matchday 8, VfB welcomed Cologne as a promoted team, who were in deep crisis after a strong previous season (fifth place): With just one point from the first seven games of the season, Peter Stöger’s team was stuck in last place in the table .
