After the encounter on Saturday in Stuttgart, the players involved expressed their views. We collect the votes for the game.

VfB coach Pellegrino Matarazzo: “We saw a balanced first half, even if Wolfsburg got a little more out of the game. We improved in the second half and then made the deserved equaliser. Wolfsburg surprised us a little, then we switched and were able to put more pressure on the ball and opponents. That’s how we’ve gotten better and better, and we’ve worked up the courage to go a step further. The changes have also done us good. Next week it’s up to us to be competitive. “

VfL coach Florian Kohfeldt: “We got on well. The goal at such an early stage was also good for us. But we didn’t go for the second goal with final determination. Then VfB got better, but we still have the opportunity to close the game. That didn’t work and so VfB managed to equalize after all. Overall that’s fine. We managed to stay up, reasonably well and with three games to go. We’ve all been very tense over the past few weeks. Now we fly home with a good feeling.”

VfB sport director Sven Mislintat: “It was a balanced game from the start, I think. Wolfsburg was extremely dangerous over standards. That’s how the goal falls, it took us five to ten minutes to shake ourselves. But we can actually equalize in the last quarter of an hour of the first half. Then it was important to remain as clear as possible and to watch out for the Wolfsburg transition moments. And then you have to say clearly that Flo Müller kept us in the game at 0:1 with an unbelievable save after a pinball. So we were then able to reward ourselves with a well-deserved 1-1.”

VfB striker Sasa Kalajdzic: “If you score a goal at the end and get the draw that way, it’s always good for morale. But in our situation the point is not enough. It wasn’t an easy game. But I think we played a good game in the second half, even if we didn’t create a lot of clear chances. We gave everything, worked, also for the fans, who were great again today. That’s the least you can ask of us. But somehow the point doesn’t feel so good.”
