Vincent Janssen today at the Bosuil to complete transfer to Antwerp

Vincent Janssen will be Marc Overmars’ first major incoming transfer as technical director at Antwerp FC. The Dutch striker completed an international match with the Orange on Tuesday and will go to the Bosuil on Thursday afternoon to arrange the final paperwork. A lovely late birthday present for the striker who blew out 28 candles yesterday.

It is now more than clear that Marc Overmars is pulling the Dutch card. After the arrival of head coach Mark Van Bommel – he took two fellow countrymen with him to assist him – the first major incoming player is also a Dutchman. Vincent Janssen broke through at AZ in the 2015/16 season. He then scored 27 goals.

His dream transfer to Tottenham was not a direct hit and he played for the Mexican Monterrey for the past three seasons. By moving to Belgium, he hopes to get more in the picture for the national team of the Netherlands. He wants to go to the World Cup with the Orange at the end of this year.

After the international match against Wales, Janssen already made it clear that he wanted clarity about his future quickly. He seems to be getting that today. He has an appointment at the Tawny Owl and if nothing goes wrong, he should be the first big name to squabble at the Great Old during the summer mercato.
