After scoring his 80th for Verdão, the forward asked the team to focus on the decision in the Copa do Brasil
This Sunday (8), Palmeiras was only in a 1-1 draw with Fluminense, at Allianz Parque, for the 5th round of the Brazilian Championship. With the result, Verdão remains at the bottom of the table, in 13th position, with six points. In an even game, the alviverde crowd was in trouble with the referee, who became involved in controversy after not signaling a penalty committed by goalkeeper Fábio in Rony. With that in mind, Dudu analyzed the match.
In an interview with TV Globo after the game, the striker, who scored his 80th goal with the alviverde shirt, did not hide his feeling of disappointment with the points lost at home, but asked the team to focus on the decision in the Copa do Brasil: “I think that yes (we let the victory slip). It was a good game, well played. We lose two points. But it’s having your head in place, working to qualify for the Copa do Brasil”, lamented Dudu.
Sálvio Espinola, from Central do Apito, gave reason to Verdão’s complaint, explaining that the move involving Rony was not a simulation: “There’s Fabio’s touch on Rony’s foot. Ron had a preference for the ball. Regardless of Ron, for me, by the image, the penalty should have been scored. Rony gives the dribble, has the front, Fábio slides on the lawn and touches the leg. This is a fouled contact, the penalty should have been awarded”, declared the referee commentator.
Controversies aside, Palmeiras hopes to leave the high number of draws in the Brasileirão (three) behind in the duel against Red Bull Bragantino, which takes place next Saturday (14), at 4:30 pm, at Allianz Parque, for the 6th round of the championship. Before that, Verdão turns its attention to the return game of the third phase of the Copa do Brasil, against Juazeirense, this Wednesday (11), at 19:00, away from home. It is worth remembering that the alviverde team won the first match 2-1.
