A few days ago the Union Confederation of Transporters Fuerza del Norte announced a new truckers strikearguing lack of security and constant economic increases that “directly affect the union.”
When is the truckers strike?
Through a statement, truckers from the north reported that it will be a indefinite unemployment which will start this Monday, November 21 at 12:00 p.m.
The Confederation claimed that they will not hinder the passage emergency vehicles, private vehicles and passenger transport. “Our goal is not to harm the public, but we are tired of this injustice towards us,” they said.
Division in the guild
For her part, the National Confederation of Truck Owners of Chile (CNDC) He questioned the announcement of the northern guild and withdrew from the mobilization.
Through a statement, both the CNDC and the Regional Freight Transport Trade Union Federations remarked that “It is absolutely irresponsible to call for a stoppage of activities. Consequently, we are not part of any mobilization.”
“It is the least appropriate moment to initiate forceful actions. The serious economic difficulties that the country is going through, added to the union’s problems, are more than enough reasons to rule out a strike”, they added.
The Government, for its part, has not made an official statement regarding the announcement of the mobilization. However, according to some official sources it would be making all efforts to avoid paralysis.
