The Canadian Football Association had good news to report on Friday. Star player Alphonso Davies joined the rest of the group of players. The 22-year-old fullback of Bayern Munich continues to work on his recovery after a hamstring injury. It is uncertain whether he will make it to Canada’s first group game at the World Cup in Qatar next Wednesday against the Red Devils.
Davies suffered a hamstring muscle injury in Bayern’s 2-3 league win at Hertha Berlin early this month. It turned out to be more serious than initially estimated. Bayern did not want to release his player to the Canadian federation so far.
A player with a hamstring injury is also struggling with the Red Devils. Romelu Lukaku is currently still recovering and certainly seems to have to pass up the game against Canada.
After the opening game against the Red Devils, Canada will face confrontations with Croatia (November 27) and Morocco (December 1) in Group F.
