Will the marriage between cyclocross team CX Tormans and Patrick Lefevere be called off?

It looks very likely that the announced collaboration between cyclocross team CX Tormans and Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl is dying a quiet death. Tormans’ budgetary contribution that is too limited is the basis for almost certainly canceling the marriage between the two parties.

However, it was a convinced Jan Tormans who confirmed the courtship between the two parties after the Cyclo-cross World Championships in Fayetteville. Tormans wanted to leave Intermarché – Wanty Gobert with his CX Tormans and found a willing partner in Lefevere’s Quick-Step. However, U23 world champion Joran Wyseure and Emiel Verstrynge soon made it clear that they chose Alpecin-Fenix. Quinten Hermans – the number two in Liège-Bastogne-Liège – was also not convinced and has not yet made his choice. In the meantime, Tormans would have reopened the talks with Intermarché. Tormans CX is contractually bound to Intermarché until December 31, the Walloon team also wants to remain active in the field in 2023 and is already counting on Bart Wellens for that. (gvdl)
