Berlin – The only one who can still change the mind of the hunger strikers is apparently a candidate for chancellor Olaf Scholz (63, SPD)!
After weeks on hunger strike, a climate activist in Berlin switched to stop drinking on Saturday.
Another activist, who has also been on a hunger strike for a few days, announced this for herself.
Without fluids, there is a risk of serious health consequences, including death, within a few days. Since both hunger strikers are already weakened, critical states can occur much more quickly. According to the supervisors, medical help is provided for such cases.

The two remaining members again demanded that the SPD chancellor candidate Olaf Scholz declare a climate emergency.
Scholz had called for the campaign to be stopped and offered the young people to talk to them after the election. This offer was renewed on Saturday.
“In this election campaign, which is about everything, people still pretend that everything could go on like this,” said Henning Jeschke, explaining his move on Saturday.
Scholz would not even have the lip to say climate emergency, criticized the 21-year-old. “We don’t accept the murderous attitude towards the younger generation.”
His 24-year-old campaigner Lea Bonasera said: “I am not ready for political ignorance to prevail over what is important.”
A group of young adults started a hunger strike on August 30th for a radical change in the climate. Among other things, she wanted to achieve a public conversation with the Chancellor candidates Scholz, Armin Laschet (60, CDU) and Annalena Baerbock (40, Greens).
Since the politicians did not agree, most of the activists broke off their hunger strike this week.
According to consensus, Baerbock was at the camp on Thursday and spoke to the young people who had ended the hunger strike.
