Local leadership awaits inspection by the Civil Defense to find out if the building is still in conditions of use
The police station of the PRF (Federal Highway Police) in Dourados (233 km from Campo Grande) was partially destroyed by the storm at dawn this Thursday (14). The local leadership is awaiting inspection by the Civil Defense to find out if the building still has the minimum security conditions to continue housing the unit.
The communication tower, 27 meters high, knocked down by the wind, fell on the house of a family who lives behind the police station, on BR-163, exiting Campo Grande. Nobody was hit.
In addition to the unit’s roof, blown away by the gale, the garage collapsed. A piece of concrete from one of the roof’s supporting pillars hit three vehicles. Vehicles were damaged.

“It was like opening a sardine can. In a short time, he raised the entire roof. The damage is great, but no one got hurt”, said inspector Waldir Brasil Junior, head of the PRF in Dourados.
Champion in drug seizures among all PRF units in Brazil, the Dourados police station awaits the construction of the new headquarters, in an area of 10,000 square meters provided by the municipality.
The assignment was approved in September 2020, but so far the work has not started due to lack of federal funding. Estimated at R$ 2 million, the area is located within the urban perimeter, on Rua Ildefonso Pedroso, at the back of Estádio Douradão and close to the BR-163.
