CP returned this Wednesday to suppress 147 of the 253 trains scheduled for between 00:00 and 08:00 today, on the third day of strike by the carrier’s workers, according to a balance sheet made by the company to Lusa.
CP workers started more strikes on Monday, with the carrier warning of “severe disturbances” until Thursday, in a protest over the stalemate in wage negotiations that also involves Infraestruturas de Portugal (IP).
According to a balance made by CP to Lusa this morning, of the 253 trains scheduled between 00:00 and 08:00, 106 were carried out and 147 were canceled (58.1%).
CP – Comboios de Portugal indicates that 72 regional and interregional trains were scheduled, with 39 having been suppressed and 33 having been carried out.
As for the urban ones in Lisbon, 115 were planned, 76 were suppressed and 39 were carried out.
According to the company, in urban Porto, 54 were scheduled for that period, 29 were carried out and 25 were suppressed.
With regard to long-distance trains, 12 were planned, seven were canceled and five were implemented.
CP had already warned on Friday of “severe disturbances” in the circulation of trains between 00:00 on Monday and 23:59 on Thursday, due to the strike, with minimum services decreed for the four days (25%).
The strike was called by SINFA, the Union Association of Intermediate Directors of Railway Operation (ASCEF), the National Independent Union of Railway Workers (SINFB), the Independent Union of Railway Operations and Related Workers (SIOFA), the Independent Union Association of Commercial Career Railway Workers (ASSIFECO) , National Federation of Transport, Communications and Public Works (FENTCOP), Railway Technical Services (STF), STMEFE – Union of Metro and Railway Workers (STMEFE), Sinafe-National Union of Railway Workers of the E Afin Movement and National Union of Workers of the Railway Sector (SNTF).
At issue is the “impasse” in salary negotiations with the management of IP and CP, say the unions in a statement.
