The Davis Cup announced this Friday that the headquarters of the 2021 Finals in Innsbruck (Austria), which hosts the matches of Groups C and F, will not be able to have an audience in the stands, due to the restrictions of its Government due to the coronavirus.
This same Friday, Austria announced a new national confinement and even the intention to make vaccination mandatory by February 2022. The measures affect the development of the Davis in Innsbruck, from November 25 to 30 and, just a week before, the tournament it happens to be behind closed doors.
Group C, with France, Great Britain and the Czech Republic, and F, made up of Germany, Austria and Serbia, will be played without an audience at the Olympia-Halle.
“We are all disappointed. We will continue to prepare a great event as we follow the lines set by the Government, ”said ITF President David Haggerty.
The organization will now study the setback and the measures to be taken, such as the implementation of the refund for tickets purchased by fans.
