Colombia inaugurated the new sports headquarters of its soccer federation in the city of Barranquilla, which cost a little more than 10 million dollars and had the support of the FIFA Forward and Conmebol Evolución programs.
“Today Colombian football, in the home of the national team, is inaugurating this beautiful venue to say that if Barranquilla was the home before, now it is the home forever (…) This venue will last for many years and here the evolution of Colombian football ”, assured the Colombian president, Iván Duque, during the presentation.
The event was also attended by the president of FIFA, Gianni Infantino; the president of the South American Football Confederation, Alejandro Domínguez, and the president of the Colombian Football Federation (FCF), Ramón Jesurún, as well as former selectors and footballers.
“Barranquilla is the 12th player of the Colombia National Team (…) This is not the only headquarters of the national team, but it will be the headquarters of many teams that will bring championships to Colombia,” said Duque.

Infantino, for his part, said he was very excited to be in Barranquilla, “the most beautiful city in the world,” and congratulated the FCF for the headquarters, which is “an example of the brilliance of Colombia throughout the world.”
“Here we are to celebrate this magnificent sports venue that is an example of professionalism, an example of emotion, of heart for Colombia, for South America and for the world. It is an example of what you can do when you believe in football, ”said the FIFA president.
The headquarters, built with its own resources, has three soccer fields (two made of natural grass and one synthetic), three dressing rooms, a gym, recreational “teqball” and soccer tennis courts, wet areas with whirlpools for cryotherapy and sessions. of heat.
In addition to a pool designed for recovery, medical, games and entertainment areas, offices, an auditorium for events and press conferences.
“I want to congratulate Colombia because infrastructures are very important (…) but the most important thing (…) is to change our way of thinking and here is a message for the teacher (Colombian coach) Reinaldo Rueda and for all the teachers: enough to fight to qualify, we have to get to Qatar to conquer the world ”, assured Domínguez.
The mayor of Barranquilla, Jaime Pumarejo, explained that the construction of the headquarters was “a team effort” between the local administration and the FCF.
“Today I represent millions of Barranquilleros who want to leave them a message: This is their house. Not only from the National Team, but from all those who visit us, share us joy and help us generate employment and sow optimism ”, he said.
