He stressed that “large and medium-sized industries realized that by wanting to continue producing one day they generated a negative impact, where they themselves were left without energy.”

“Tomorrow we are going to have a day a little worse than today, but today we cope well; and if tomorrow we fulfill as today, we will be able to cope definitely well,” he said.

For the President, the businessmen They “helped” with their decision to regularize the provision of electricity to households affected by power outages.

On the other hand, the Executive pointed out that the increases in the rates of public services “are decoupled” from the investments that the concessionaires must make.

This was pointed out by the presidential spokesperson, Gabriela Cerruti, in her usual press conference on Thursdays, in which she referred both to the official decision to provide telework for the National Public Administration today and tomorrow from noon, and to the need of a decrease in consumption by large users amid the heat wave.

“Tomorrow we are going to have a day a little worse than today, but today we cope well; and if tomorrow we fulfill as today, we will be able to cope definitely well.”Alberto Fernandez

Cerruti attributed the motivations of Decree 16/22 to “good reasons”, such as the increase in consumption due to economic growth; and “bad reasons”, due to the heat wave and the forecasts of temperature marks that in some parts of Argentina could reach record levels.

On the other hand, asked to “decouple” the power outages of recent days and the investments that must be made by the service providers of the official decision to increase the rates.

“If not, we would have had investments during the Presidency of (Mauricio) Macri, which gave them increases of more than 3,000%,” he said.

The spokesperson indicated that as a result of the increase in consumption forecast for this Thursday and Friday, the estimates of the specialists account for a record use of installed power that it could “have a requirement of 28,800” megawatts, a level “higher” than last Tuesday.

That day, at 1:10 p.m., the power record of 27,234 MW was registered, according to the report of the Administrator of the Wholesale Electricity Market (Cammesa).

Cerruti highlighted the weight of large users in the total demand for electricity, and pointed out that they represent approximately 10,000 of the 28,000 MW that is expected to be reached in the course of the afternoon today and tomorrow.

For this reason, he stressed the importance of “deep and meticulous dialogue “with business chambers representatives of those sectors, among which he mentioned the Argentine Industrial Union (UIA) and the Association of Metallurgical Industries (Adimra).

In the same way, he called for responsible consumption by users in general of private homes and buildings.

Finally, he stressed the responsibility of the concession companies of the national orbit Edesur and Edenor, in addition to recalling that the National Electricity Regulatory Entity (ENRE) “is asking for more answers” from the first of the companies due to the cut on Tuesday 11 January, since in the Government “we are not satisfied” with the explanation, he said.

The Government asked the industrial sector to “reduce energy demand” between 1:00 pm and 4:00 pm in those factories that “do not have continuous cycles”, in the midst of the heat wave that a large part of the country is experiencing, stating that ” the priority is residential energy. “

The Secretary of Energy, Darío Martínez, said that a historical consumption record of 28,550 megawatts is projected for today and linked it to a strong process of economic reactivation that the country is experiencing, which implies greater energy demand, added to the temperatures extremes that are being experienced throughout the country since the beginning of the week.

“We have communicated with the large users so that during peak hours they reduce the demand for energy, of course for those who do not have a continuous cycle,” Martínez explained in a press conference that he gave in the morning with the Minister of Security, Aníbal Fernández at a meeting of the National System for Comprehensive Risk Management, where he stressed that the Government seeks to put energy supply in homes as a “priority”.

Officials indicated that permanent monitoring of the energy situation of the AMBA and the province of Buenos Aires is being carried out.

In this regard, the Minister of Security questioned that the head of the Buenos Aires Government, Horacio Rodríguez Larreta, did not take a similar measure in the area of the City of Buenos Aires, arguing that most of the state employees were doomed to attend to the health situation derived from the pandemic.

“It is a political decision, advantageous, small in terms of politics, not thinking about what others need,” he complained, during a press conference held by both officials to announce measures against the heat wave.
