On November 12, Apple TV + will put online the first three episodes of its event series The Shrink Next Door, a drama produced by two very popular comedians, Will Ferrell (Brothers in spite of themselves) and Paul Rudd (Ant-Man). It is inspired by a true story: for several decades, Dr. Isaac “Ike” Herschkopf (Paul Rudd) manipulated his patient Martin “Marty” Markowitz (Will Ferrell), taking over the sessions more and more. control over his way of thinking and his personal life. Casey Wilson (Mrs Fletcher) and Kathryn Hahn (WandaVision) play the hero’s wife and sister respectively, the former having complete confidence in her husband’s shrink, while the latter is more suspicious by nature.

This summer, the platform shared a short teaser, very tense, to announce the broadcast of this story told in detail in a podcast in English, also titled The Shrink Next Door. This new edit goes more crescendo, starting as a real comedy where the hero played by Ferrell follows the advice of his shrink. The video takes advantage of Paul Rudd’s natural bonhomie, presenting him as an ally of his patient, who ends up outright sympathizing with him, inviting him to his home to meet his loved ones. When the latter begins to suggest sad ideas to him (leaving his wife, for example), his sister’s warnings finally no longer seem excessive …

Directed by Michael Showalter (The Eyes of Tammy Faye) from a screenplay by Georgia Pritchett (Veep, Succession), The Shrink Next Door will consist of 8 episodes.
