They seek to reduce the incidence of Tuberculosis / HIV in the GSD and Monte Plata

The director of the Metropolitan Regional Health Service (SRSM), Dr. Edisson Féliz Féliz, expressed in the workshop on Monitoring Tuberculosis and HIV Coinfection Indicators that it is a priority of this institution to work hard to provide quality care to users with this condition and reduce the incidence rate of these diseases.

Féliz Féliz, specified that the SRSM is part of the national development strategy and the Sustainable Development Goals (ODS), to achieve the goal of reducing deaths from this cause by 95% and ending the global tuberculosis epidemic for by 2035.

“We are focused on improving our indicators, for which we have 196 services to work the Tuberculosis Program 41, as well as 85 promoters, 15 psychologists, 6 promoter supervisors,” said Féliz Féliz.

In this sense, the person in charge of Clinical Management of the SRSM, Dr. María Vólquez, specified that in Greater Santo Domingo and Monte Plata, tuberculosis patients with low adherence factors receive home treatment and mental health care.

He clarified that the indicator of capturing 1,300 patients with tuberculosis to offer psychological help was exceeded by more than 100% when 2,429 were registered in this demarcation.

While the HIV / AIDS Program has 30 Comprehensive Care Services in public network establishments and NGOs where free care is provided to people living with this pathology.

Dr. Vólquez stressed that these centers offer all the facilities so that no family has to face catastrophic expenses due to tuberculosis / HIV.
